Whenever a user accesses the website, the user's internet browser automatically transfers the following data to Wiley-VCH's web server (hereinafter referred to as “technical data”) for technical reasons:

2.2 Purposes for the use of the data
The technical data are collected, processed, and used for the purpose of enabling the use of the website (connection setup), system security and technical administration of the network infrastructure. A comparison with other databases or a transfer to third parties, also in excerpts, does not take place.
The registration data are collected, processed, and used to provide the user with access to the registration area of the website, to contact you for marketing purposes of Wiley-VCH and of Evident Europe GmbH, Caffamacherreihe 8-10, 20355 Hamburg (hereinafter referred to as “Evident Europe”). 3. Legal basis for the processing
The legal basis for the processing of technical data is Art. 6 I f) EU GDPR. Our legitimate interests in this processing is our interest in providing a safe and fast network infrastructure for our users.
The legal basis for the processing of registration data by us and by Evident Europe is the consent of registered users according to Art. 6 I a), Art. 7 EU GDPR and Sec. 7 II No. 3 German Unfair Competition Act (Gesetz gegen den unlauteren Wettbewerb – “UWG”). Without the provision of the registration data and the consent to the advertising, you cannot access the registration area of the website. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by deleting your account or by contacting us via [email protected]. After revoking the consent, the registration to the website will be cancelled and we and Evident Europe will not use any personal data of you for marketing purposes.
4. Will my data be transferred to third parties, e. g. authorities?
At Wiley-VCH, those bodies within Wiley-VCH receive user data that are required to process personal data for the purposes named above.
- Data transfer to Evident Europe: We will transfer registration data to Evident Europe, Caffamacherreihe 8-10, 20355 Hamburg, Germany, [email protected]. The legal basis for this transfer of registration data is the consent that registered users have given us according to Art. 6 I a) EU GDPR.
- To our service provider: The website is provided to us by WebJazz GmbH – swinging solutions, Külpstraße 7, 18439 Stralsund (hereinafter referred to as “service provider”). The service provider works strictly in accordance with our instructions, which we ensure by means of strict contractual regulations (according to Art. 20 III EU GDPR), technical and organizational measures and supplementary controls.
- To a requesting public authority: In certain situations, we may be obliged by mandatory law to transfer personal information about you to a court, a state institution or another public authority. The legal basis for such transfers is Art. 6 I c) EU GDPR or § 24 BDSG.
Beyond this, we do not transfer data to third parties unless you have given your express consent, the transfer is obviously necessary for the provision of an offer or service requested by you or this is provided for by law. We also do not intend to transfer your data beyond this to a third country or international organization.
5. Which cookies are used?
We only use so-called session cookies (also called temporary cookies) on our website. These session cookies are stored only for the duration of your use of our website. This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (e.g. the referring URL, the pages visited on our website, your browser and the language setting of the browser, your operating system or your screen resolution) is transferred to a server of Google located in the USA and stored there. We have activated IP anonymization on this website; as a result, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area before it is transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional circumstances will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google secures this data transfer to the USA by EU standard contract clauses in accordance with data protection law.
Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling anonymous reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage for us.

7. How long do we store your data?
The data will be stored as long as it is legally necessary for the purposes described above or as long as this is legally necessary or permissible or has been stipulated in a consent until such consent has been withdrawn.

You may at any time and free of charge request information about the scope, origin and recipients of the stored data as well as the purpose of the storage; in addition, you have the right to rectification, erasure or restriction of the processing of your data in accordance with data protection regulations, a right to object to the processing as well as a right to data portability.
